What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function to as near normal as possible when someone is affected by injury, illness or by developmental or other disability.*
Here at Ambulant we offer a wide variety of treatments to bring pain relief and greater freedom of movement. We work with patients with a number of conditions including sports injuries, arthritis, MS, back and neck pain and any other movement problems or muscular pain. Physiotherapy treatment at Ambulant is always aimed towards bringing full rehabilitation to patients. This is often achieved after a course of treatment. In more acute cases treatment we will teach patients to manage their condition and find maximum relief and movement in the long term.
Your first appointment

This includes an initial assessment, which allows you to inform the physiotherapist of your existing problem, and discuss ways in which your physiotherapist can help you. This assessment also allows the physiotherapist to determine what treatment would be best for you. Following your initial assessment your physiotherapist will give you your first session of treatment. This initial appointment will last up to 45 minutes.
Your follow-up appointments

Each follow-up treatment session will last between 30-45 minutes and will consist of a variety of treatments. You can be re-assessed at any time or request an initial assessment on a different area of your body.
The treatment involved

Your physiotherapist will work to treat the underlying cause of your problem, and not just the initial symptoms. They will not only work on correcting your problems; but will provide you with information on your injuries, treat the necessary areas, and teach you specific exercises that will help you to solve the problem and prevent reoccurrence. Ambulant Physiotherapy has its own gym, and therefore your physiotherapist will be able to create and demonstrate a customized exercise programme specifically to aid your rehabilitation needs. The gym includes a running machine, a stepper, a bike, gym balls and a variety of weights. We also have access to a local hydro pool.
Your physiotherapist can treat you using a variety of methods:
